040: Attract What You Expect, Reflect What You Desire
“Attract what you expect,
Reflect what you desire,
Become what you respect,
Mirror what you admire.”

This poem can convey a mantra of success in just four lines. It tells you to define your success and work towards it step by step. Plus it’s easy to read and memorise. It’s one of those things you can repeat to yourself on a daily basis.
Notice that in two lines there are the words “reflect’ and “mirror”. I take it to mean that you should emulate success or successful people. If you don’t know who or what you should emulate, the 7 habits of highly effective people is a good place to start.
Another thing in this poem that people might miss is that ‘success’ is not defined in the poem. It is implied that the end goal or ‘success’ you are seeking is up to you to define. The words “what you expect” and “what you desire”, refer to this. As well as “what you respect” and “what you admire”, refer to people who already have the type of success that you desire. I find this more important, because this world is too full of people who are chasing the mass media’s definition of success. To me, if a person wants to be a great school teacher and proceeds to achieve this dream, then this person is a success. I first developed this idea from reading The Strangest Secret, by Earl Nightingale. This is one short book that I recommend everyone in this world should read.
