Shon Mehta – Three Men

“A group of three men was escorting an elderly scholar to another town. The road was through a deep jungle. When they were in the middle of the jungle, the weather changed  suddenly and a storm descended on them. They took shelter in a cave…” – Shon Mehta

This was drawn by Jason Liw. Take a look at his Behance profile.

Shon Mehta is an investment consultant who loves to write moral stories and parables. If you check out her website, you will find more of her stories. Just like Aesop’s fables, her stories are entertaining and can teach you something about life.

Shon’s stories have also been consolidated into a short book for Kindle, A Tale of a Fairy Tale and other stories.

This comic is the first of Shon’s stories to be transformed into the comic format. I had a lot of fun story-boarding it, and I’m honoured to be picked for this project. I had the choice of which of Shon’s stories to make into a comic. I chose this story, because it is my favourite, and it teaches a lesson that I’d like to keep remembering.

In the closing of the story, the elderly scholar thinks. “But while everybody can see the problems, very few can put them together into a solution.” This is a very valuable lesson for all entrepreneurs. As problem solvers. entrepreneurs need to not only learn and serve the needs of their customers, but trouble shoot issues in their organisation. Entrepreneurs need to be thinking of new ways to doing processes or improving on the business as if it was a system. Like the two men in the comic, many entrepreneurs could only see the problem and think of mundane solutions to these problems. The best kind of entrepreneur can look at the exact same problems and think up innovative solutions.
