045: Mervin Yeo – Successful People

Where I come from, Mervin Yeo is an expert networker and “champion of the introverts”. I first met him at a networking session organised by him, entitled “Networking for Introverts”. Like it says on the tin, it was a roomful of introverts, gently encouraged to talk to each other in a controlled environment. (Without extroverts making the place too rowdy.) Everyone was split into groups and in our groups, each of us had a turn to speak to our group.

Introverts will understand how daunting it is to do networking and speak to strangers. Everyone knows how important networking is, but it really takes up a lot of energy to do so for introverts. Mervin, an introvert himself, knows this all too well, which is why he decided to help introverts in my city with networking.

When he is not networking, Mervin is a business training and advisory. He even has a few books out. The latest one being Crowd Sauce, a co-written book about business. Sam Choo, first introduced in our previous comic #043 is also a co-writer of the book.

Admittedly, if you are outside of Asia, this book is pretty hard to come by. If so, might I suggest currently the most popular book on introverts, Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can’t Stop Talking.
