031: Noah Kagan – My favorite business book
“My favorite business book of all time is experience” – Noah Kagan
This was drawn by Apeng. Check out his awesome art blog here.
Noah Kagan is a brilliant marketer and start-up wizard. I found out about him when he did a 24 hour business challenge. The challenge resulted in him creating a small (and profitable mind you) business around beef jerky. Of all the things about him, this is the one that still impresses me the most. I recommend reading how he did it, it blew my mind.
If you are wondering what kind of person can pull off this kinda start-up stunt, I believe only a person with experience can. If you think about it, knowledge doesn’t always mean understanding or practical know-how. Reading about how to create a start-up can’t ever equal to doing and trying it out for yourself. Believe me, I read widely in business literature, but I still failed many times at start-ups before Rational Comics.
The next best thing to experiencing it for yourself is to read the experience and failure stories of others. You simple don’t have the time to make (and learn from) all the mistakes yourself. Learning from the mistakes of others is an efficient way to go about learning from failure. Not to mention it’s less painful too.
There are many books out there for you to learn from the start-up experience of others. Case in point, the book featured in the comic above. Yes, it’s a real book and you can find it here. I want to read it too. Sadly, where I come from, it’s not so easy to find a copy, so the search continues.
If you want to learn more start-up and entrepreneurial ideas and knowledge, then don’t forget to subscribe.
